The Women Lawyers Alliance is an accomplished group of women throughout the United States and Canada engaged in the private practice of law and committed to building a strong referral network. WLA members are partners of large, medium-sized and boutique firms and span all practice areas.

The WLA organization was created to assist women lawyers in obtaining and retaining great clients and profitable business, which translates into influence and leadership in their firms. In addition to promoting high quality referral opportunities the organization also serves the unique business development needs and interests of women practicing law.

Members of the WLA are required to be partners in their law firms or have seven or more years of private practice experience. Additionally, to become a member of the WLA a lawyer must be AV or BV rated by Martindale Hubbell. If you are not yet rated you may also become a member by being recommended by a current WLA member in good standing with the organization. In order to create a strong and trusted referral network our members agree to not solicit additional work from a referred client.

The WLA organization provides quality business development programming and practical advice to its members and does not take a "one size fits all" approach to the subject. We understand the unique issues women lawyers face in private practice and with guidance from an accomplished and diverse Board of Advisors, we serve those needs.

We understand that women practicing law are under tremendous time pressures juggling work, family, clients, community events, etc. That's why you will never find our online meetings over an hour long and why you will never see our annual meeting held in exotic locations that are hard to get to. To view the agenda for our annual conference, "Rainmaking Equals Influence," that was held in May of 2010, and to see what the attendees had to say about it please click here.
