Included in the annual membership dues:
The WLA provides to its members: A password protected, secure website for the purpose locating qualified, high quality member lawyers for referrals; programs delivered via the Internet addressing specific issues women face in their practices and firms (some Internet programs may have a nominal fee), these programs are tailored to address the needs of lawyers in all practice areas; an electronic forum on LinkedIn to help members communicate with each other, and; "Practical Rainmaking Tips," a short monthly newsletter with advice that members can immediately put into action to help grow their practice.
The WLA provides the resources to connect its members with one-on-one coaching services, personal business development training, and mentoring from other female attorneys. Beverly Hedrick, founder and President of the WLA also offers individual coaching services throughout the year.
An annual meeting is held with "facilitated networking" opportunities among members. Facilitated networking is not putting a group of women in a room together and hoping they will make connections. It's helping our members connect face-to-face in a structured yet comfortable setting, and giving them the opportunity to talk about the work they do, and share with the others the type of work they want more of.
Additionally, at our annual meeting we hold business development workshops, and bring in high level speakers to teach, enlighten and motivate. To view the agenda for the May 2010 conference, "Rainmaking Equals Influence" and see what the attendees had to say about it please click here.
